There is a fascinating story to the Cambodia gambling dens that reside just over the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, where gambling hall gaming is banned. Eight casinos are based in a generally small area in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling halls is in a prime spot, a three to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest gambling centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The amazing capital accrued from the casinos ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over 12.5 million dollars, and there are a few controls constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is required to be mostly Thai; although, funding sources are ambiguous. The borders are ceremoniously open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and despite the fact visas are apparently needed to cross, there are methods around this, as is correct of many border crossings.

The initial Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving just a single casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary barge gambling den, contains one hundred and fifty slot machines and 60 gaming tables. The Naga gambling hall never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat, 4 tables of 21, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon followed. There are 150 slot machines and five table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slots and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slot machines and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and ninety six table games, including eighty seven punto banco (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five one armed bandits and 66 of the familiar table games, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, also a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-around vacation and hotel building that highlights many amenities aside from the gambling den, which has 10,000 square feet of 130 slot machines and eighty eight gaming tables.
